Improve the quality of your product while supporting more of the many diverse brains walking our planet. Brief intro of how Universal Design for Learning can improve game experiences for more folks
Long Description:
Here's a Win-Win: design a better product (or its instructions) that is accessible to more people, or improves their overall experience. We've all squinted at text on cards, or slogged through chunky technical rules. Creating engaging, beautiful & even incredibly cerebral games doesnt need to leave players frustrated, discouraged, or defeated because their brains wouldn't cooperate. Universal Design for Learning, seeks to create the most flexible and responsive approach for learning and processing information, instead of retrofitting. We'll explore the framework of Representation, Action & Expression, and Engagement to look for EASY opportunities to create more flexible and more inclusive (and more fun for more folks!) games, or even just improve the dreaded rules book. Presentation & optional collaborative workshop time built into the session
