SETI: Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Learn to Play
Summary:
Intelligent life is out there somewhere. Will you be the one to find it? On the moons and planets of our solar system or nebulae far beyond, you will search among the stars for signs of life.
Description:
In SETI: Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, players lead a scientific institution searching for traces of life beyond planet Earth, exploring nearby planets and their moons, and directing telescopes to gaze into distant star systems. SETI: Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence pays homage to space exploration, astronomy, and efforts to understand the nature of life in the universe. This game will be taught by a member of our CGE demo team. *Players will be split into tables of 4 players each. We will attempt to keep groups together, but we cannot make guarantees.* When you participate in a ticketed learn-to-play event with CGE, you will receive a coupon for $5 off a purchase in the CGE store in Room 235 or in CGE's booth in the Expo Hall. You must attend the event to receive a coupon. Limit 1 coupon per purchase. Offer valid until 8/2/25.
SETI: The Road to the World Series of Board Games Entry Round
Summary:
Play for a chance to participate in the World Series of Board Games' SETI Ring Tournament. At WSBG, players will compete for a championship ring and a chance at a large cash prize pool.
Description:
CGE is partnering with the World Series of Board Games to host tournaments where the grand prize is entry into the WSBG’s SETI Ring Tournament. This event is for experienced players only, as the game will not be taught during the event.
Play will consist of two rounds: a preliminary round and a final table. Players must be prepared to participate through the entire preliminary round and the final round, if they win their table (a total of at least eight hours), and to abide by the tournament rules as provided by WSBG. Players may also be filmed during games for marketing purposes.
The winner of the final table receives a $300 voucher to attend the WSBG in Las Vegas, Nevada (September 5-9, 2026) and entry into the corresponding SETI Ring Event on September 6. Hotel and travel costs are not included. Players must make their own hotel and travel arrangements.
