A practical discussion about worldbuilding covering how to craft histories, cultures, and landscapes, weave lore into play, design divinities with cultural impact, and keep stories coherent.
Description:
A candid, hands-on conversation about building worlds that feel lived in and ready for play. We unpack how to craft histories, cultures, and landscapes that create story, and how to tie tone, stakes, and consequence to every choice characters make. You’ll learn clear methods for adapting existing worlds without breaking canon, and keeping long campaigns consistent without losing momentum. We show how to weave lore into scenes so it guides play instead of clogging it, and how geography, climate, and cosmology become engines for story. Expect practical prompts, repeatable frameworks, and honest lessons from mistakes so you leave with tools to build worlds that invite exploration.
In small groups you’ll create your own nation: define borders, government, culture, economy, territories, history, then add adventure hooks. You will leave with a kingdom and a take‑home guide.
Description:
During this two‑hour workshop you will choose a region on a map and build a nation there. Using a provided take home guide, we begin by naming the land and setting borders that follow rivers, mountains, and roads. We define government and law, then add culture: peoples, festivals, art, faith, and everyday life. We sketch the economy by resources and trade partners and layer in how magic is practiced. We place a few important sites such as capitals, major ports, and sacred places. Then we write a short history that explains how the nation became what it is. We close with an adventure hook tied to those sites and the nation. You will leave with a short nation write‑up and a repeatable method for building more. No prior experience is required, and all materials are provided. You will work in small teams, or individually, and share notes at the end.
