Many games that aren't traditionally marketed as educational, but are great products for bilingual households. We will discuss those games, as well as why to use them in this capacity.

Social interaction is critical to developing a secondary (and beyond) language. A critical part of any tabletop game is the social interaction, but some games promote less inaction than others. (Chess, for example, can be played without muttering one word to your opponent.) This presentation will discuss what to look for and what to avoid when it comes to using games as language resources. There are current examples, and an open forum to brainstorm other ideas.

Escape rooms continue to be a popular pastime. Physical escape rooms have expanded to include tabletop games and online experiences. Digital escape rooms can also be used as effective training tools. A digital escape room engages the learner by using game mechanics such as story, Easter eggs, puzzle-solving, & competition & provides a unique platform for learning. But how can you build one on a budget without paying for expensive licenses or artist fees? In this presentation, you will learn how to use PowerPoint to create a basic escape room that can be deployed as a PowerPoint presentation and address ways to make the escape room accessible for people with disabilities. By the end of the session, you too will be “Making Your Escape.”
Pathfinder And Starfinder for Libraries And Schools
Summary:
Paizo gives an overview of the Pathfinder and Starfinder RPG lines, from stocking the basics, to the Organized Play Foundation, to running Pathfinder, and Starfinder events.
Players use materials provided in session to create a functioning board game. This two hour session will appeal to game designers of all ranges as well as educators.
We'll discuss what keeps a gaming group coming back again to your store. Also how to start one if it does not already exist and how to handle different situations as they arise.
