Germany attacked Paris in hopes of taking the French capital. During the attack, where several French and German soldiers were already wounded, it began storming in the city. It stormed for eight days before a crew was sent to help evacuate the citizens. Another eight days passed without any word from Paris, so the party is being sent in, prepared for the worst.
