Become a Mini Painting Maestro by Mastering the Fundamentals
Summary:
Have you ever felt that your painting has hit a plateau and you just can’t push to that next level? The culprit is most likely the criminally undertaught skills of paint consistency and brush control.
Description:
What is the single most important skill in Mini-Painting; Color Theory? OSL? NMM? Buttery Smooth Blending? All those sound great, but are impossible to pull off without knowing how to use your paints and brushes to their fullest potential. In this class we will take a deep dive into the different levels of paint dilution, how they behave differently from each other, and when to use them. In addition, we will talk about how to load (and unload) your brush for maximum precision. From base coating to glazing to freehand, the skills you will learn in this class will take your painting to new heights. While this course is mainly aimed at beginner and intermediate painters, advanced painters are welcome too if they want an in-depth refresher.
Become the Chef: the Beginner's Guide to Miniature Paints
Summary:
Much like how good chefs know their ingredients to flavor their dish, a good minipainter knows their paints to flavor their model. Here we will learn what's in the paint, and how to use it!
Description:
Knowing what you're painting with is just as important as knowing what you want to paint. In this course, each person will be given a cube on which we will test multiple types of paints such as: branded miniature paints, metallic paints, heavy body acrylics, airbrush paints, inks, and fluorescents. We will demonstrate how these different ingredients perform over many different surfaces, and then use this knowledge to practice a variety of painting techniques such as layering and wet blending to cover over our previous work. All tools and paints will be provided. However, feel free to bring anything you would like to learn with, but please do not eat the paint!
