2026 U.S. National Terraforming Mars Championship - Preliminary Round
Summary:
Prelim Round 1 of 4, for experienced terraformers. Winners advance to the Final Round Saturday at 3PM for a chance to share a prize pool of $1,000 in IGS titles.
Description:
The 8th Annual Tournament, run by John Lash. Play one of the corporations and work together in the terraforming process, but compete for getting victory points that are awarded not only for your contribution to the terraforming, but also for advancing human infrastructure throughout the solar system, and doing other commendable things. This event will include the Prelude Expansion. Players may play in any or all of the 4 preliminary rounds, but may only qualify for the Final Round once.

Every time you place a kitten on the bed, it goes “boop.” Which is to say that it pushes every other kitten on the board one space away. Line up three kittens in a row to graduate them into cats… and then, get three cats in a row to win. Players will play in 2 preliminary rounds; top scorers will advance to elimination play.
A chaotic, co-operative, real-time card game where players have only five minutes to escape the randomized dungeon. Communication and teamwork are critical to survival.

Once the five-minute timer starts, the race is on to defeat all the monsters inside the dungeon. In order to defeat a monster, players must match symbols from their hand with ones on the monster's card. At the end of each dungeon is a powerful dungeon boss. After the first boss is defeated, the campaign continues to the second boss. Each boss, and each randomized dungeon, gets harder until players reach the fifth and final boss.
