Join us for a speed chess tournament, with prizes awarded to top finishers. Rounds will be timed, and use Swiss-system pairings (no eliminations).
Description:
Whether your goal is to test out your online skills over the board, just meet other chess enthusiasts, or to become the unofficial chess champion of Gen Con, experienced players of all skill levels are welcome to this event. This will be an unrated tournament (i.e., not submitted for US Chess or FIDE rating systems), but we can provide players with estimated ratings based on their tournament performance. The number of rounds, time controls, and number of prizes awarded will vary based on advanced entries. First-time tournament players are welcome, and we will go over tournament rules and etiquette for everyone, but players are expected to know and adhere to the rules of the game.
