Tour of the Mason's Gothic Scottish Rite Cathedral
Summary:
We'll tour at one of the most beautiful Gothic buildings in the region. Delve into the symbolism of Masonic ritual. Our docent, a 32 degree mason, is the organ & carillon player. 1 mile walk.
Description:
To hear the carillon play is a rare treat, there are only a few people in the whole state who can play it. I hope Mr John Hinkler will play for us. Last year he played both the concert organ and the carillon for our tour. This 78,000 sq ft building is full of wonderful art glass windows and gorgeous hand carved woodwork. You may take photos through out the structure. Bring your zoom lens to see the gargoyles on the tower and the angels holding the 10 commandments in the theater. The Double Eagle Cafe will reserve a room for attendees. This is a fantastic opportunity to eat in a convenient, quiet, and cool space before walking back to the convention center. A 20 minute walk or if you drive your car there is parking at the rear. A portion of your tour fee goes to Masonic charities.
